How to Stay Sane While Social Distancing
My top tips to keep yourself busy and positive during this challenging time!

It’s no secret that everyone is social distancing while going through this pandemic right now. Whether you’re turning on your nightly news or browsing through social media, the whole world is talking about COVID-19. I don’t know about you guys, but this whole situation has been extremely anxiety-inducing. My partner, Jay, is a nurse right in the middle of this crisis, and I find myself constantly worried about whether or not he’s going to contract the virus or even if he already had it! A couple of weeks ago, he was at home sick with a bad fever for 6 days, a cough, body aches, and slight shortness of breath, and there was absolutely nothing we could do except stay home and quarantine. This included getting a test…and he’s a healthcare worker!
This stressful situation our household has been facing has felt totally out of control. Not to mention how stir crazy I am getting not leaving the apartment. Even though I’ve been working from home for the past three years now, I’ve been finding it incredibly difficult to focus on my work with absolutely no meetings or activities. I never realized how much more productive I was when I had a schedule to keep.
If we are going to get out of this alive and strong, I believe we have to adapt to our circumstances and take control over our new lives with social distancing. That’s exactly why I’ve decided to share my top tips and suggestions for staying sane during this quarantine. These activities have all really helped me feel a bit more normal, and I hope that they can do the same for you.

For all of you fitness buffs who work out from home on the regular, this might seem like a no brainer. But to those of us who normally rely on gym equipment, group fitness classes, or even getting cardio from shopping, this quarantine has proven to be very difficult to focus on fitness. I, on the other hand, was sort of out of the groove of fitness before this whole thing started. That’s why I’ve challenged myself to workout at least once per week during this quarantine. Maybe that will even lead to more! Who knows?
There are a lot of great streaming services you can find that make working out from home so much easier. I personally have been loving Alo Moves. I’ve already done an intermediate barre and yoga class and loved them both! They even have a free 2-week trial, so definitely check them out.
2. Play with Your Pets
When are you ever going to have this much at-home time with your pets for this long again? AND trust me, your pets are ecstatic that you are home 24/7! Show them the love they deserve. I know that I’ve been spending extra time with my precious Einstein and Nala, and they, as well as me, love every single second of it.
3. Download a New Game
I’ve never been a gamer at heart because I normally don’t have time during my busy work schedule to sit down and play. When I saw everyone playing the Animal Crossing: New Horizons game, I knew I needed to download it ASAP. You can play it with whoever you’re spending the quarantine with and even play with a ton of people and friends online. Playing with others is a great way to not feel so alone and experience the fun of building and living a new world “outside”. It’s such a fun game and it really helps with stress relief!
4. Download TikTok & Post Fun Video Content
If you are not on board the TikTok train yet, get on it NOW! Why not take your social media to the next level? I’ve been learning some fun new dances and skits, documenting my adorable dogs, and vlogging my occasional Animal Crossing game. And, all of these videos are usually less than 30 seconds so they are super quick and easy to make. It’s also such a great way to be creative and have fun! Beware though…it is absolutely addicting.

5. Take a Walk Outside While Practicing Social Distancing
All of us need some fresh air from time to time! It’s also important to remember that taking walks outside is completely allowed, as long as you are practicing social distancing and able to separate yourself at least 6 feet away from another person. Go outside and get some Vitamin D and watch how much your spirit soars!
