My Eyelash Extension Experience
Come along as I take you through the whole process of receiving eyelash extensions!
Ever want luscious eyelashes but just simply are not blessed with genetically having them? Well, that’s me.
I have been taking a break from eyelash extensions for awhile because a lot of the lashes I were using were too heavy and harsh for my natural lashes, causing them to be brittle and damaged.
Luckily, I tried out Amazing Lash‘s new featherweight lashes and they seemed to fit my natural lashes perfectly! Their featherweight lashes feel super light, but give you all the volume you need. I could not be happier with how everything turned out. As soon as I looked in the mirror, I could not believe how open and bright my eyes looked.
After a 6-month lash extension hiatus, I was happy to be back to get a fresh set. Lash extensions are a great option to achieve that extra-long, gorgeous lash, while still maintaining a natural look. Since I’m always on the go, lash extensions make my life so much easier.
What are Lash Extensions?
Lash extensions are synthetic fibers individually attached to each of your natural lashes. They give you the longer, thicker lashes, while still feeling completely natural. You can choose from a variety of styles, lengths, and curls to create a look you’ll love.
Styles of Lashes
At Amazing Lash Studio, they offer four different lash styles you can choose from. From natural to super glam, you are sure to find a lash style to fit your look.
This style features longer eyelash extensions in the center of the eye and subtly goes down in length at both corners, to help open up the eyes. These are best suited for almond, deep-set, mono-lid, down-turned, wide-set or hooded eyes.
This lash is described as you, but better! The natural style follows your natural eye shape with a subtle and gradual flare at the outer corner, with shorter lashes in the inner corner. These are best suited for almond, protruding, mono-lid, or close-set eyes.
This style features lashes that are longer on the outside edge of the eyes, with a sleek cat-eye appearance. These are best suited for almond, protruding, mono-lid, or close-set eyes.
This style uses longer eyelash extensions at the center of your lash line to make your eyes appear larger and more open. These are best suited for almond, deep-set, mono-lid, down-turned, wide-set, or hooded eyes.
The lash technician explained to me that the “cute” or “gorgeous” style lashes would really make my eyes pop, while the “natural” and “sexy” lashes would look more like a cat-eye shape. She then examined my eye shape and recommended the “gorgeous” lash, as it would open up my eyes. I normally get a lash more like the “Sexy” style because it went with the length of my natural lash, but I was loving how the “gorgeous” sounded. The idea that this lash style could help open my eyes a little bit was very appealing to me, so I decided to go with that.
Once it was time to get my lashes, I was sent over to the lash room where there were rows of cushioned massage tables to lay down and relax in. While in the chair, my lash artist prepped my eyelids with a small white cloth under my eye and on my eyebrows so she could make sure to not pull any of the hairs off. She then primed the lashes with an alcohol solution to get rid of any excess oils and help the adhesive adhere better.
After the lashes were glued on, the lash artists misted my eyes, dried the adhesive with a mini fan, and then sealed the lashes with power black. When you first open your eyes, some lashes may get stuck on your lower lid, but it’s easily fixable with a little help from the lash artist.
All in all, I was absolutely blown away by the results! My lashes looked so amazing and I was so happy with my decision to go with the “gorgeous” style lash.
Eyelash Extension Tips & Tricks
Here are some helpful tips that you can take away for your next eyelash extension session!
- Allow 90 minutes to 2 hours for your first appointment.
- Avoid caffeine before your appointment, so you are not jittery during the application process.
- Arrive with a fresh face and wear no makeup, sunscreen, or moisturizers.
- Try not to use waterproof mascara 2-3 days prior to your appointment, since it can leave a residue that can prevent extensions from adhering correctly.
- Remove your contact lenses prior to your application.
And there you have it! I hope you enjoyed a behind-the-scenes experience for my eyelash extensions!
