It’s A Foodie Mecca

Florida as a whole may not be known for being cutting edge, but Miami is actually a flourishing foodie destination where you can encounter some unique culinary delights. The Coconut Grove area, usually better heard of for its nightlife, has become studded with great new restaurants such as Spillover and 33 Kitchen. There is every kind of cuisine on offer, but the real speciality is the Cuban food. Sampling dishes like arroz imperial, vaca frita and medianoches – a combination of pork, onions and cheese, will have your taste buds singing. With a jumble of South American and Caribbean influences as well, there’s lots to sample. Just remember to pack something with an elasticated waist!

Schedule A Beach Day

There is so much to explore that you may have to schedule a beach day. But, even if you’re not into downtime, there’s a lot to do on these golden shores. From renting boats in Miami and having an aquatic adventure in the Florida Keys to stand up paddle boarding to cocktails at the Standard Hotel, and to classic boardwalk rollerblading at Venice Beach, you’ll never get bored.

Get In The Fast Lane

Miami is famous for many things, and one of the “must-have experiences” is motor racing at the legendary Miami Speedway. If you’re not familiar, Fast Lane Fridays are when local drag racers get a chance to take over the track (which is different than the usual NASCAR races), and it’s a spectacle not to be missed. Even if you aren’t majorly into car racing, it’s an adrenaline packed must-see that will add a kick to your trip.

Visit The Arts Trail

Miami is also home to a vibrant artistic scene, so you can easily spend a lazy afternoon absorbing a hit of culture from the local arts contingent. The Perez Art Museum is a sleek temple to contemporary art located in the ritzy neighborhood of Biscayne Bay. There are lots of events, one of the most popular regular ones being ‘Third Thursdays’. Every ‘Third Thursday’ of the month, there is free entry, special art-making activities, scavenger hunts, DJs, a bar and late openings. Then, you can also hop over to Wynwood to do a walking tour of their famous graffiti art walls, which are perfect for adding a splash of color to your Instagram snaps. You can even book walking tours with local artists daily at 2pm. Finally, you can finish up by grabbing some food and drinks at the nearby Wynwood Kitchen & Bar.
