Why Coconut Oil Is Good For Your Skin + Palmer’s New Coconut Oil Formula
And where you can buy the products
Hi there! Kasey of TheStyleWright back with an amazing skincare review of some products I became recently obsessed with: the new Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Skincare Line! Packed with raw, natural coconut oil sourced ethically and sustainably, these products are NOT one to miss. And a major PLUS is that they are also free from parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, phthalates, gluten, and dyes.
Why Coconut Oil is Good For Your Skin
So, let’s start with WHY coconut oil is good for your skin, and then I’ll deep dive into what my current favorites are from Palmer’s latest coconut oil skincare line.
Coconut Oil Is a Better Moisturizer Than Most
Unlike other lotions or oils, coconut oil penetrates hair and skin much better, providing very effective hydration. Coconut oil has the ability to seep into the skin more quickly than other oils, serums, or creams that are either petroleum-based (which can clog your pores) or solely water-based (which can leave your skin feeling dry again). So, basically, coconut oil is the best hydrator out there in the market, and with the winter season coming up in New York City, there is no perfect time to use it than now.
Speaking of, I’ve been using and loving Palmer’s Coconut Water Facial Moisturizer. The mixture of the coconut water and hyaluronic acid feels so great on my skin and they give my skin the perfect hydration boost it needs. My skin feels neither dry nor oily hours after applying it in the morning or evening. I would recommend using this after using Palmer’s Coconut Oil Luminous Hydration Facial Oil.
At first, the texture of the moisturizer felt interesting to me as it is coconut water-based and I never felt anything like it! I was unsure whether it would bring me the moisture it promised to deliver with its light and gel-like texture. Nonetheless, ever since I’ve incorporated this moisturizer into my daily routine, I’ve been in love with the results and my skin has been looking so bright and refreshed.
Coconut Oil is Antibacterial and Antifungal
On top of being extremely moisturizing, did you know that coconut oil is also antibacterial and antifungal? As much as some people say putting oil on their face will increase the production of acne, I’ve actually found the opposite to be true with Palmer’s Coconut Oil. I have combination skin which means I have both dry and oily residue on my face. So, initially, I thought the oil wouldn’t bode well with my skin type. But, so far, the coconut oil has done nothing but make my skin dewier, moisturized, and LESS acne-prone. Initially, I thought this was because the coconut oil replenished and retained the moisture on my face just enough so that my skin did not need to overcompensate by producing more oil.
However, after further research, I discovered that coconut oil actually has antibacterial properties when it comes in contact with the natural bacteria and sebum that lies just on top of and beneath the surface of our skin. When the coconut oil and bacteria on our skin come in contact with each other, our skin actually turns the coconut oil’s triglycerides into free fatty acids which then increases the “number of antimicrobial fatty acids on the skin and protection from infection.” (Source: EvolutionHealth.com). Basically, to put it in layman’s terms, the coconut oil works together with our naturally-produced oil and as a team, they both kick ass in keeping OUT disease-causing germs. Not too sound ultra-nerdy, but isn’t that neat?
So, not only has Palmer’s Coconut Oil been keeping my face super moisturized, it has been keeping it super CLEAN. And with having combination skin and acne-prone issues when stressed, I can attest to the fact that it does not make my skin break out or make it too oily. It also has eliminated the dry patches on my upper cheeks and nose area that frequently get dry during the wintry and windy NYC season.
All in all, I’m in love with this oil and it’s super affordable! My skin looks more luminous, more even-toned, and the hyaluronic acid gives off a great anti-aging boost.
Coconut Oil is Anti-Inflammatory
And just when I thought coconut oil couldn’t get any better, I discovered that it also has anti-inflammatory properties. That’s right: it helps reduce chronic skin inflammation within days and “heals and soothes wounds, rashes, blood blisters, etc.” (Source: Evolution Health). So, imagine mixing this natural first-aid remedy with a gentle facial scrub? You have another power-packed duo to add to your skin regime!
And that’s where Palmer’s Coconut Oil Facial Scrub comes into play. The raw coconut sugar acts as the main exfoliant and it gently takes away dead skin cells so that new skin can form and replenish your skin’s moisture. The sugar is not too harsh, but it is effective in getting away the dirt and grime on my face after a nice cleanse. I use this facial scrub about 2-3 times a week as it’s best not to exfoliate every day as it can be too abrasive for anyone’s kin. What’s great is that while the exfoliant takes away the old skin, the coconut oil immediately restores the moisture and because of its anti-inflammatory properties, it soothes your skin right away of any redness or irritation. Talk about the perfect scrub!
Conclusion: Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Skincare Line
Overall, I’m very happy with the results of the new Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Skincare Line. With the Coconut Oil Facial Scrub, Luminous Hydration Facial Oil, and Coconut Water Moisturizer, my skincare regime has never been so easy and effective (or smelled so good!). AND, I can trust the ingredients that are in Palmer’s products as they are always natural, safe, and sustainable. I highly recommend trying these 3 products out and incorporating them into your daily regime because of its price point AND that the coconut oil is a for-sure win.
