How I Wore NYFW Day 1 September 2018

Alas, New York Fashion Week is here! It’s been so crazy running around the last couple of weeks going to fittings, events, and putting together my outfits. I also just hired an amazing assistant who just started two weeks ago, so I’ve been super busy training her while keeping up with my blog work. (But, I KNOW she is SO going to be worth it in the long-run – so far, she’s been an angel helping me prep for NYFW!)

NYFW Day 1

I start off this afternoon with KUR (designer recap to come), have a 6-look photoshoot (I know, #fml but it’s great to be prepared), have my voice lessons and class at night, and THEN head to the LeSportSac Party. I’m usually not a party animal and don’t like to stay out too late, BUT I’m going with my good friend, Mary of @LayersOfChic_, so I’m sure it’ll be a blast.

The Look: Modern Blue Bell Bottoms with a Hippie Twist

Lately, I’ve been LOVING this new female-run brand, Sugarhigh. The clothes are SUPER trendy and SUPER affordable – I ordered a bunch of clothes for NYFW and I seriously loved every piece. The 90’s are making a bit of a comeback with their bell bottoms, so I thought these Billie Blue Jeans were perfect to wear. They fit like a glove and naturally crease in the right areas. The blue color is incredible and I’m obsessed with the cutoffs on the bottom of the hemline. Oh, and it’s super soft and comfy.

I paired these phenomenal jeans with a mustard yellow crop top because I thought the colors complemented each other nicely. To accent the look, I threw on a black leather belt with a square gold buckle and finished with black leather mules from Bill Blass. For a bag, I opted for this Zac by Zac Posen backpack which is so striking AND convenient – it’s perfect for people on-the-go who still want to have a chic bag (aka every New Yorker).

Then, for sunglasses, I opted for these silver reflective motorcycle ones by Yay Sunshine to make the look edgy. For jewelry, I went for bold and boho. For example, my bracelets incorporated natural elements such as my wooden bangle, white seashell bracelet, and handmade Tibetan stone bracelet. And then to play on bolder pieces, I wore this red leather choker and two-tiered gold cuff.

Overall, I’m loving this look and I can’t wait to show you guys what I have planned for the rest of the week!
