The Journey Of Becoming an Entrepreneur and #BadassChick

How I Entered Into a Whole New World of Fearlessness

I Had An Incredible 6-Figure Income Job, But I Left It. Here’s Why:

*Author’s Note: I began to tell you guys through my #BetterNotBitter Instagram campaign about the big announcement. However, I had to shorten the complete story so I wouldn’t tire your eyes too much in the caption. So, here it is! My dedicated blog post about my transition into a full-time fashion and lifestyle blogger/singer.*

How I Finally Took the Leap Into My Dream Job

I wasn’t a fully-fledged entrepreneur, but I had a prestigious 6-figure income job that made myself proud at the age of 25.  I was frequently traveling around the country and had I stayed long enough, I would have traveled around the world to places like New Zealand and Japan. I was able to rack up so many frequent-flyer points and gift my boyfriend and I free round-trip tickets and a hotel to the Smoky Mountains for our 4-year anniversary (Post to come soon about that too). And during [New York Fashion Week], I even had enough points to stay at a hotel in Manhattan so I could seamlessly change in and out of my outfits and stay close to the Shows. (Do you know how expensive Manhattan hotels can be?)

Just a month ago, I was working 60+ hours a week consulting other fashion brands on how to run their businesses instead of telling myself how to run mine. I was spending endless amounts of hours working for somebody else, and even though I enjoyed what I did, I could not love it. At the ripe age of 25, I already had established a promising career in fashion and retail and was earning a great salary that many people would only dream of having. But, it simply wasn’t enough.

My corporate retail and consulting career, although successful, was taking me away from the creativity of my passion: fashion and lifestyle blogging, modeling, and singing…and most importantly, being able to influence others in a positive way. I wanted to keep the momentum going, and I knew that if I stayed in my full-time job, that it would stop. I would have to give up my passion of inspiring others and there was no way I could do that.

The Final Decision

Last December, my mother got [terminally sick] around my birthday, and it really put into perspective how much of our time is limited. We are, unfortunately, mortal human beings who will always have finite lives – and there is no telling exactly when or how long we have on this Earth. After months of depression and angst following the news of my mom, I was finally able to accept and appreciate the time I have left with her. Right then and there, I made a promise to myself to cherish every waking moment of my life and to fully love myself and my family. So, I left my job to discover all the beautiful opportunities that the world has to offer. I finally started to believe and trust myself that I could be an entrepreneur.

My Life Now

Fast forward to today, and I am happy to say that I took the final leap of faith into becoming full-time ME/#BadassChick. It was extremely terrifying since I knew I had a mortgage to pay, needed enough food to eat, figure out my lack of health insurance, and get used to the idea that I no longer had a stable job. I was leaving my whole life behind that I had set myself up for since before college. I was entering a new and unknown territory.

“I told myself that I’d rather struggle with my finances than struggle with my happiness.” – Me

But, from personal and direct experience, all the money in the world could not make me happy. I thought it could for so many years, but boy was I so wrong. I told myself that I’d rather struggle with my finances than struggle with my happiness. So here I am. Get ready world – Kasey Ma is about to be one happy lady entrepreneur ready to take on the world! And remember, so can YOU! 🙂

We must be on the same wavelength – I just wrote about this on my blog too! haha just like you, I left my job where I was promised a huge promotion and lots of power/money that would come along with it. I was NOT happy and all I wanted to do was work for myself and create my own success, even if that meant struggling. Now here I am, struggling but HAPPY. Quitting my job was the best decision I could have made. Good luck to you on your journey! 🙂
