Baroque for Jill Stuart and NASA for Vivienne Tam: NYFW Outfit Highlight #2 and #3
Hi everyone! I’m writing this post to talk about my two next favorite outfits that I wore to some of my favorite Shows of this past NYFW. You can find my other favorite outfit highlight in this post.
Look #1: Baroque for Jill Stuart
Baroque for Jill Stuart
The night before the Jill Stuart presentation, I was inspired by her latest collection which evoked a feminine Baroque feel. I snagged this vintage sweater from the 70’s straight from my mom’s closet and knew instantly that I had to create something with it. I placed it on top of my Phillip Lim sleeveless white top that is edged with beautiful frays along the sleeves, neckline, and bottom. Next, I wanted something structured and colorful to offset the long black sweater, so I opted for these burnt sienna culottes from H&M. These are my go-to pants when I want to walk into a room feeling like a powerful woman. And that moment was Day 3 of New York Fashion Week.
Finally, I finished off my look with these ankle-height black Python booties by Seven For All Mankind. I love these because the heel is atypical as it is made out of shiny, finished wood material. Although the arches hurt like hell after awhile, they did a stellar job in standing out.
The lovely photographer, Amber, was able to snag some photos of me after the Show. Thanks, Amber!
Look #2: NASA for Vivienne Tam

Then came my favorite show I attended this Season, and it wasn’t just because of the clothes. It was truly memorable because of the entire experience leading up to the show and after. I didn’t even expect the invite! The morning before Vivienne Tam, I was sent an invitation to attend her show. I couldn’t have been more ecstatic. As a long-time fan, I would have been fine scoring a standing ticket (which is by the way, totally the opposite of where I actually sat!).
Then, my day got even better. I happened to know the PR head honcho at Vivienne Tam, and asked if I could wear one of her pieces to the show. And guess what! The VT team said yes! Immediately, I stopped what I was doing mid-day and got to the showroom as soon as I could.
Upon arrival, I was shown all her pieces from her Spring Collection and was immediately blown away. I had to stop myself from breathing so hard because I was just so excited for this opportunity. Then, Tiffany Trump walked in a few minutes after me for the same reason (to try on pieces for Vivienne’s show), NBD.
I finally chose some dresses and brought them to the changing room. I knew I wanted to stand out at the Show, and this crazy silver dress from her NASA collection immediately caught my attention. Not only that, it fit perfectly around my waist and we knew right away that this was the winner. We tried on more dresses, but nothing fit my body better than this dress. So we went with it!
The next day at the Show, I was so blessed to be seated front row alongside Paris Hilton, Tiffany Trump, and other celebrities! I was already invited so last minute, so at most, I only expected a standing ticket. I’m guessing that wearing one of her pieces to the Show helped a lot. Vivienne and her PR team must have really wanted me to sit upfront to show off her design (I will be forever grateful for this opportunity).
And most importantly, I went Backstage and met Vivienne Tam. Right after she spoke with Paris Hilton, I shook her hand, and some paparazzi snapped some pictures of us smiling on a red carpet. Unfortunately, I have no idea where those photos are, so if any of you photographers are out there, please email them to me at askStyleWright@gmail.com. Please and thanks 🙂
Also, special thanks to Andre’ Lave’l for taking these awesome photos in my Vivienne Tam dress. Much kudos.
Overall, a successful NYFW. A final recap of my biggest lessons learned, tips I’ve implemented from past season, and my entire experience will be coming soon. Stay tuned!
