Weekend getaway to Longboat Key and Clearwater Beach
This weekend, I told myself to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Away from the stresses of work, the crowded subways, pollution, noisy cars, and expensive lattes.
On Thursday and Friday night, I stayed at the Longboat Key Resort, wining and dining along the gulf of a serene Floridian island. I ended my nights in a beautiful two-bedroom apartment with an extended balcony that led straight to a private pool, hot tub, and of course the beach. It was perfect.
Then, I stayed the rest of the weekend at my vacation home in Clearwater Beach. Although the entire first day was rainy and cloudy, I was able to enjoy the second day there on the windy beach with a 15-minute peep of the sun rays. Literally, my bikini made a 15-minute appearance (It was quite epic). Saturday night, I met up with some old friends I’ve been acquainted with over the years and went out to the local bars.
Yes, maybe it wasn’t the most ideal time to go to Florida as the storm just happened to hit the weekend I got there. Apparently, it’s been warm and sunny almost every day except this weekend. But hey, I counted my blessings. I was able to step outside my office life and refresh myself. I learned that resetting myself from my normal activities was a vacation in itself, no matter where I could have went, and no matter what the weather was like.
When the going gets tough, and you feel like your world’s about to crumble, you just have to take a step back and find a way to reset. You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars and take a trip to Bora Bora in order to enjoy yourself. Sometimes the best trips are the most inexpensive ones – the ones right at home. Take a staycation. Do your errands. Sleep in. Go to the gym. Eat yourself silly or healthy, whatever your goal is at the time. Take that dance class you always wanted to try. Just be yourself with no limitations or fear of consequences for once. Just be you. And that’s the healthiest thing you can do for yourself. And trust me, after, you’ll feel like you can conquer the world.
