Bringing Back the Power Of Women from the 1930’s

My favorite designer? Hands down, Chanel. It was in the 1930s that Gabrielle first produced and popularized the famous tweed jacket (which I need to get my hands on one, pronto!) This past Saturday, I had a fashion event to go to last Saturday, and the dress code was “Express your inner self. You are your own artist.”

IMG_9990So, what do I do? I decide to finally wear a 1930’s Millard Fillmore suit vest passed down to me by my lovely voice teacher from years ago. I kept trying on different outfits until I had the perfect mix of vintage and contemporary.

“Even Einstein was having a great time shooting with me!”

I thought it’d be perfect for the event. Ché ‘s clothing line was eccentric, edgy, questionable. It pushes the limits and that’s what I wanted to do, too. I always am the classy, girly girl with a spritz of edginess. But that night, I wanted to walk into the venue with questionable stares of “How did she pull that off? Why would she wear that?” And somehow make it work.

Top: Cropped top from Forever 21

Skirt: Faux leather skirt from Zara

Shoes: Leather strappy sandals from BCBGeneration

Bag: Chloe Drew Mini Python Bag

And Of course, I had to show off my new Chloe bag in Python…

Snuck some shots in right before the sun was setting…maybe I should waited because now my face is half lit by the blinding sun..

I mean, look at the detailing of the double breasted buttons on this vest! Tell me where you can find something like this now. I am so fortunate to have such a vintage piece in my closet.

So, the Ché Showroom event was bomb. There were dance performances by WAFFLE and RAAA, free dranks, and free comida. I even had the chance to meet Lil Mama!! I hope my lipgloss was poppin’ and my lipgloss was cool! 😉

She was so down to earth and so tiny. She make everrrrybody look fat, or if you want to hear it politically correct, larger than life. Even if you’re the size of a hamster.

Like wtf right? But, she kind of pulls it off. Psh, models.

My boy, Elijah, sporting the distressed look with his jeans and Ché’s sweatshirt. Check out Ché’s Clothing Line here.

Had an awesome time this weekend, met lots of great people in the industry and friends of people in the industry. Also, if anyone is in the NYC area, I’m hosting a get-together Fashionista/Model/Blogger open bar event from 8-9 in Midtown Manhattan. Message me for the details if you want to come! Lots of great people will be there 🙂 See you soon.
