New York Fashion Week 2017

Hey Ya’ll. I’ve been posting a lot about the past New York Fashion Week lately, and I’m finally here with the recap. (To see what I wore, you can find my previous two New York Fashion Week 2017 outfit posts HERE and HERE).

Looking back at this past season, this was by far the best and busiest I have ever been to. Luckily, this season, I felt more prepared. I actually put some short videos together that I was able to capture pre-Season and during the shows. Click HERE to enjoy the clips! (don’t forget to comment, like and subscribe.) 🙂

Dear Victims of Broken Hearts,

You need to understand that it is not your fault. It is simply not. Been there, done that. Blaming yourself or blaming the other person and dwelling on whose fault it really was is not going to get you any further in the healing process. The only way to move on is to grow and improve yourself until you are one badass chick who no one can tear down.

A Fever, New Apartment, and Mathieu Mirano

IMG_3247

I was hot and then I was cold and then I was hot, and then I was cold. My temperature kept fluctuating for two days. I experienced something that I haven’t in a long time: an aching fever. Then, one healed day later full of recovery symptoms of fatigue, I closed my first apartment. It’s a one-bedroom in NJ, and it’s right along the water, minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Imagine that. A few months ago at the age of 23, I made a successful offer on an apartment. Fast forward to the age of 24, I now own an apartment entirely under my name. God is good, I am grateful, and luck is on my side.

Who knew the buying process was so stressful? I certainly did not. The process of finding the right home at the right price, and shopping around for the best mortgage rates proved to be a huge headache. Everyday, I had to draw up an infinite amount of documents to prove to the bank that I was a reliable borrower. On top of all that, I was living all the way in the Upper East Side while attending to a full-time job. The only time I had to look at apartments were after work, and by the time I got home, it was already time to crash on my Tempurpedic.

One Shirt, Two Skirts

1shirt2nd6

1:2 – the ratio that represents that there is 1 for every 2 of something. See examples below:

  1. One shirt, two skirts – the concept in which there are multiple ways to “jazzy-up” a single item. It is the utilization of a staple item such as a t-shirt and creating two looks simply by interchanging other aspects of the outfit, such as pants, skirts, shoes, etc. I.E. My blog pictures today with my white tee and my two skirts.
  2. One celebration, two life events – how I have felt my birthday and Christmas were celebrated together every year. They happen to be six days apart from each other (My birthday is on the 19th of December). My birthday at times feels forgotten because of this worldwide holiday. These two life events were melded into one get-together for years with my family and friends, just like my presents were.
  3. One present, two events. Self-explanatory. Le sigh.

Social Media – Am I Putting on Two Faces?

Social6

Am I only publicizing the glamorous life that my followers want to see or am I really living an authentic life and capturing it through photographs? Social media can be daunting for many – Instagram models are starving for attention both metaphorically and literally; fitness bloggers are overdosing on supplements and Creatine in order to capture that extra definition in their 8-pack abs; beauty queens are teaching others to feel beautiful even though they only feel beautiful with the assisted, blended strokes of a makeup brush. Then there are the fashion bloggers who are spending way out of their means so they can display their iconic designer bags and shoes in their public photo galleries.  Is getting thousands of likes, comments, and millions of followers worth putting your life on pause, stunting the natural growth of moments in time in order to pose for a black box with a flash?

With the recent news of teenage Australian model Essena O’Neill, quitting social media for good, there is no doubt that she is among many other players in the game. Much like any Hollywood star, she was put under a tremendous amount of pressure to always look good, to appeal to herself and to the brands she represented. However, one day, she realized that social media approval of over a half a million followers (every upcoming star’s dream) on Instagram was not sufficient for her happiness anymore. The Instagram/social media life was eating her up inside, tearing away her true personality. That is why she left. She needed to find herself again and share her message with others.

Life Is A Simple Formula

SimpleFormula1

My, it’s getting chilly over here in New York City! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and safe travels. I am good on the free and fattening turkey leftovers for weeks. For that, I am extremely thankful :-D. Thankful for this delicious (gluttonous) holiday, and for the time to be with family and friends.

Do you ever feel like you just want to slap everyone’s face that passes by just because everything is just pissing you off? Sometimes, I can be in such a bitter mood and can find anything in the world to complain about. ‘Oh, my commute was 15 minutes longer today because some stupid conductor said there was train traffic,’ says every New Yorker as they take the subway to work every morning during rush hour.  ‘I am so f*cking exhausted after work, I don’t ever have the time to work out and here I am just getting fatter by the second!’ says everybody with a desk job. And the most dreadful and painful one of all, ‘I hate my life.’

Patterned Textures and A New Puppy!

Hello hello!

Good evening ya’ll. Sorry for missing my Sunday evening post, but I was too busy getting my first puppy on Friday and taking care of my baby! He’s a Havanese 3-month old baby. He’s a big boy. His name is Einstein, named after the way his white hair looks like if it were to be shocked by electricity and from the general intelligence of Havanese dogs.
Through the midst of taking care of Einstein, I was able to make it back to my old city, Jersey City, and hang out with a fellow blogger. We took some sick pictures along some streets with crazy graffiti and this is what we got:

Modern Pin-Up Look

The Smoothie That Kept Me Alive

So, I kind of went on a shopping spree at Lord & Taylor last Friday in the DesignLab section, and decided to wear a new look while strolling through Central Park. I don’t usually like to put up my hair, so it’s down in this picture – but I think the dress and shoes really bring out the essence of the Modern Pin-Up Look. (Maybe next time I’ll look around for an IG hair stylist to give me an up-do- let me know if you know of anyone) I’m pictured here with the smoothie that kept me alive during the photoshoot. Go, fruit.

This is not an accurate depiction of the color, but I had to play around with the editing, well, because, that’s what I do. It was such a beautiful, hot summer day. I tried to enjoy it as much as possible, despite the nasty shower that my face was taking with my beaded, dripping sweat (ew!)
