A Reflection After a Month Into 2017


December passed and it was our birthdays. Mine on the 19th, my boyfriend’s on Christmas. My celebration was the big 2-5. The big year where celebrating your birthday is almost old news, and you can’t afford to get drunk off your ass anymore and not worry about adult responsibilities.

So here I am. Sitting at my computer, clacking away at the keyboard as I reminiscence about the last 365 days.

When I look back at 2016, I feel like I have accomplished a lot. In the beginning of the year, I bought my first condo. In March, TheStyleWright had its first birthday and my venture boomed way beyond my expectations. I was landing collaborations left and right and had worked with amazing brands. In June, I started a new job that I have grown to really like. In terms of my love life, I have dated my man for 3 and a half years and celebrated a successful 2 years living together. And holistically, I started to shape my outlook on life to a more positive one so I could become the best possible version of me everyday.

Beyond the glamorous exterior that I showcase across social media, this past year was still immersed with many challenges. Yes, I may have experienced all of those aforementioned accomplishments…but little do people know that every single one of those revelries came with unforeseen obstacles.

Monday Inspiration – Think BIG.

Remember to always think of the bigger picture in order to help you get through the smaller tasks.

This weekend, I was having so much difficulty getting around to editing my second vlog (ever) on the Museum of Ice Cream. It seems like on Saturday, I did everything BUT my work. I cleaned, I ate lots of food, and went shopping for useless things. By the end of the night, I felt like I wasted so much potentially valuable time.

Monday Inspiration: Life is a Marathon, Not a Sprint


Life is a marathon, not a sprint.

I learned this lesson this morning. For many months, I have been struggling trying to wake up an hour and a half earlier to make it to the gym. The alarm would go off, and I would not even snooze the damn bells…I would turn the alarm entirely off. There was no way with just 5-6 hours of restless sleep that I could bring myself to a place of energy and sweat.
Today was one of those mornings – except for one thing. Yes, I turned off my 5:30 alarm, but I winded up waking up 20 minutes earlier than usual. Last night, I had set this 6:40am alarm in case I had a second spur of motivation to do a quick workout.

Monday Inspiration – What Matters To You?


What matters to me is my pen and paper, and being able to write motivational words to my readers. That is what keeps me going. 
Today, write your goals down. Write down what you want to accomplish. What do you want to get done today?

Eat the frog and tackle the biggest task first. You’ll be surprised at how productive you become once you turn your ideas into reality. It can all start with one pen and one piece of paper. Ask yourself, “What would make you better than yesterday?” Then, step by step, go achieve.

When The Going Gets Tough, Get Stronger

You wake up in the morning. Your eyes reluctantly open as sun-rays reach through the blinds. You plant your feet down to stand. Your legs feel like they’re dragging on the floor as you make your way to the bathroom. You flick on the lights and look at yourself in the mirror. You tell yourself, “God, this is horrible. I hate waking up so early.” You’re not happy with what you see or how you feel.

Today, look around you and smile.

Too often we get caught up in the little things in life and immerse ourselves in what we only think matters. Once in awhile make sure to sit back, take a breath, and appreciate how beautiful the world can be. 🙌🏼

You owe it to yourself to accept the gift of beauty around you. Leave your stresses behind for a second and look at the pretty flowers and animals in the park you pass by every morning. If time allows, do yourself a favor and walk inside. Life’s too short to rid yourself  of what the world has to offer.

Dear Victims of Broken Hearts,

You need to understand that it is not your fault. It is simply not. Been there, done that. Blaming yourself or blaming the other person and dwelling on whose fault it really was is not going to get you any further in the healing process. The only way to move on is to grow and improve yourself until you are one badass chick who no one can tear down.
