Festival Season: The Outfit Is Just as Important as The Music

Festival Season is WELL upon us, and half of the FUN is finding the perfect outfit to wear! 🙂

As trends are continuously evolving, finding the most on-point festival outfit is worth the hunt.

If we go back in time a few years, I recall searching for my 2016 Electric Daisy Carnival outfit months in advance…

Summer music festivals present the opportunity for all styles of fashion which can be exciting, but execution can be a challenge. Naturally, these festivals showcase a variety of performers, each bringing about their own crowd of people – and then the freedom of your envisioned outfit could be right at your fingertips.

With that being said, concert styles have ranged from bohemian to electric rocker to hippie vibes and what you decide on personifying is all up to you!

But WAIT! About Me… And My Experience With Festivals (And More Importantly, Dressing Up for Them!)

My name is Becky, intern here at TheStyleWright, and I’ve been to many festivals myself including Electric Daisy Carnival and The Governors Ball (EDC & Gov Ball!!!) Aside from being obsessed with all different types of music, picking out my outfits for these events has been something that I get excited about doing. With that being said, it is thrilling to find the PERFECT outfit that is comprised of both trendy clothes/accessories as well as something fitting for the venue. It’s almost like Halloween… for one day only I get to dress up however I would like in order to play the part of my concert-going self :).

Although I don’t usually dress up in vibrant neons on the usual occasion, I expected nothing less of myself to go ALL OUT in theme for EDC 2016. This included tropical-printed Vans sneakers, denim cutoff shorts, and a neon pink criss cross crop top. Not to mention all 18 of my handmade neon-beaded bracelets, daisy choker, and white snakeskin fanny pack. Call it crazy? Some may think so, but I loved every minute of it!

Anyways… I copped my perfect Insta and had the time of my life while also learning which apparel and accessories were most suitable for that venue.

Luckily for all of us festival goerson-trend concert outfits can be found at any of our local online and in-person stores!

What and Where to Shop This Year’s Festival Looks:

Here is my curated list of some of 2018’s BEST trends of the festival season (for both trend AND comfort!):

Peekaboo Booties

These sassy booties make a statement and can work around almost anything! These details are stylish and comfortable with their low heel. The “peekaboo” aspect of these shoes are both chic and practical as they allow your feet to breathe in the heat of the festival. Lastly, they can be paired with almost any outfit to match your ideal concert-going theme. Buy them from retailers like Nasty Gal, Nordstrom, or Neiman Marcus.

Crochet Tops and Bottoms

Crochet Crochet Crochet! You can’t go wrong with a crochet top, bottom, or even a two-piece set. Crochet clothing is light, airy, colorful, and trendy for a hot day at the festival. Not to mention, it totally fits the boho chic theme :). Places that sell these tops are Forever 21, Revolve, and Nasty Gal.

Detailed Bralettes

Honestly…who cares if your n*pples are covered by only a sequenced cherry and some mesh…OWN IT GIRL! These bralettes certainly make a statement and are an easy way to formulate a cute outfit with a minimalistic approach. Not to mention, you definitely won’t have to worry about overheating in these! Find these gems at Forever 21, Nordstrom, and Free People.

The Perfect Pouch

Nobody wants to be lugging around a bag while simultaneously trying to enjoy the festival. But still, a little something is necessary for the essential bring-a-long items, and you cannot go wrong with a cute fanny pack! As weird as you think they may be, they are TRENDING and are incredibly LIFE-SAVING. They are the perfect size and are conveniently out of your way when you’re jumping along to raging music. Plus, there are variations of designs EVERYWHERE at places like Nordstom and Nasty Gal.

Where to Buy (shop below!):

Tiny Shades

I am so excited to tell you about these! What better accessory to tie together your festival outfit than the perfect pair of tiny sunnies!? From Coachella to the Met Gala, this little item is what’s HOT. RIGHT. NOW. In addition to this item being SOOO freaking cute, they are also pretty convenient.  Because most festivals take place around the Spring and Summer, sunglasses are a necessary item. These also, are multitasking accessories because they block the sun, serving as cute statement pieces, and are conveniently small enough so you can freely bounce up and down amongst the crowd. You can buy some tiny shades from Revolve, Nordstrom, and Nasty Gal.

If dressing up in theme is something you love as much as I do, then I hope this little guide can assist you in finding THE PERFECT festival look 🙂 Don’t forget that literally anything goes and it is all in your power to choose your flawless festival fit. HAVE FUN!!!

Xoxo,

Becky

About Myself, Becky

Hello Everyone! As mentioned above, my name is Becky and I am an intern for The Style Wright. My primary functions on this team are to manage the social media handles of Twitter and Facebook. Now, I am grateful to have contributed my first blog to this wonderful team. I just finished my freshman year at the University of Michigan (Go Blue :)) and although I am not sure where my academic path will take me in the future, the combination of writing with fashion, beauty, and lifestyle is a huge inspiration in my life as a young woman.
