Black Sweater Dress, Colorful Fur Vest, and Over-The-Knee Boots
NYFW Look 1 - February 2018
A Taste from Hong Kong For NYFW Look #1
Hi everyone! The notorious and chaotic NYFW is back for February 2018. I started off my morning with a couple of outfit shoots at the crack of dawn, meditation and breakfast with Burt’s Bees at 1 Hotel, and then the fashion craziness began.
I got inspired by my recent trip to Hong Kong, so I dug through my closet where my mom had bought me some clothes from Hong Kong about 4 years ago. I remember when she returned from Hong Kong with this dress, I thought I would never in a million years wear something so outrageous. Fast forward to 4 years later, and this black sweater dress with a colorful patches of fur is very much in. You can buy similar fitted black sweater dresses under $30 here, here, and here. Similar fur vests can be found here and here.
I paired my sweater dress with these gorgeous over-the-knee leather boots to finish the look off with a feminine and light, sexy vibe. The boots were the perfect touch to making me feel confident while strutting down the streets in front of the cameras. I had purchased this pair from Nine West, but they’re currently sold out. You can find alternatives under here, here, and here.
Because my outfit had mostly dark tones, I wanted to bring a statement handbag that would pop. Luckily, I went shopping for this super amazing Rabeanco Dahra Knotted bag in Red that I had also bought in Hong Kong last month. Made of real leather, this bag is a beautiful red-orange color and is super cute and convenient. There’s an opening in the top of the flap that closes the bag so you can easily access your wallet, cellphone, keys, or lipstick at anytime. The red is currently sold out, but you can buy the Rabeanco Dahra Knotted Satchel in Taupe and Beige here. Talk about bringing Hong Kong to New York Fashion Week! (Funny, since Hong Kong is actually showing this Season too. Guess I’m starting the hype a few days early!).
NYFW Day 1 Events
To start off NYFW, I visited the Eliza J Showroom to see their Spring/Summer 2018 Collection and was able to meet the team behind the brand. I also was able to design my own camera bag strap with charms which was super cute!
After the Eliza J event, I headed off to see Tadashi Shoji at Spring Studios and Pamella Roland at Pier 59 Studios.
And if I thought my day couldn’t get any better, I had received an email this morning that said I had gotten accepted into the Lexus Courtesy Transportation for NYFW. That meant that I would be able to take a beautiful Lexus car from the Shows and be dropped off anywhere from my other Shows to events, meetings and to anywhere in the NYC area for the entire Fashion Week. I was so ecstatic because this was one of my dream goals since my first NYFW 6 Seasons ago. I have spent hundreds of dollars just on transportation alone during some seasons and calling an Uber can be take a lot of time to arrive. Now, there are Lexus cars waiting right outside the venues ready for me to hop in and enjoy my NYFW!
All in all, I had a really great first day of NYFW. Stay tuned for more daily looks, designers recaps, and a Youtube video!
