The Stylewright's New York Fashion Week 2017 Recap
New York Fashion Week 2017
Hey Ya’ll. I’ve been posting a lot about the past New York Fashion Week lately, and I’m finally here with the recap. (To see what I wore, you can find my previous two New York Fashion Week 2017 outfit posts HERE and HERE).
Looking back at this past season, this was by far the best and busiest I have ever been to. Luckily, this season, I felt more prepared. I actually put some short videos together that I was able to capture pre-Season and during the shows. Click HERE to enjoy the clips! (don’t forget to comment, like and subscribe.) 🙂
Hi everyone! I’m writing this post to talk about my two next favorite outfits that I wore to some of my favorite Shows of this past NYFW. You can find my other favorite outfit highlight in this post.
Sorry guys it’s been so long since I’ve found some time to recap my NYFW outfits and highlights. It was definitely my busiest season yet! I’m going to start off my first post with my first favorite outfit, my second post with my second, and so on and so forth throughout this past NYFW. My last post will be a recap, so stay tuned for the highlights of my week!
My first fav outfit came straight from Italy. Literally. My entire wardrobe came from a super cute store in SoHo called Official Made in Italy. The store embraces its very own name: every single brand in there is made in Italy. This season, I was so happy and proud to be dressed head to toe with their brands. What I wore ranged from sunglasses, blouses, pants, to leather gloves. I felt like a bougie European badass with class. #watchout
A Reflection After a Month Into 2017
December passed and it was our birthdays. Mine on the 19th, my boyfriend’s on Christmas. My celebration was the big 2-5. The big year where celebrating your birthday is almost old news, and you can’t afford to get drunk off your ass anymore and not worry about adult responsibilities.
So here I am. Sitting at my computer, clacking away at the keyboard as I reminiscence about the last 365 days.
When I look back at 2016, I feel like I have accomplished a lot. In the beginning of the year, I bought my first condo. In March, TheStyleWright had its first birthday and my venture boomed way beyond my expectations. I was landing collaborations left and right and had worked with amazing brands. In June, I started a new job that I have grown to really like. In terms of my love life, I have dated my man for 3 and a half years and celebrated a successful 2 years living together. And holistically, I started to shape my outlook on life to a more positive one so I could become the best possible version of me everyday.
Beyond the glamorous exterior that I showcase across social media, this past year was still immersed with many challenges. Yes, I may have experienced all of those aforementioned accomplishments…but little do people know that every single one of those revelries came with unforeseen obstacles.

“Je Ne Sais Quoi”: an intangible quality that makes someone or something distinctive or attractive. Literally meaning “I do not know what.” To my knowledge and experience, all women wish to embody this attribute. They all want to exude this strong, yet subtle confidence and beauty – both externally and from within. Little do they know that each and every one of them already has that special something. Sometimes, it just takes a little practice to bring that side of them forward.
Recently, I had a trial run of this newfound confidence…a different kind of confidence than I am used to.
But kind of, really.
I have made the decision to finally pivot my business “baby” and sweep up the momentum from this media age. I am slowing down the writing portion for my blog, and upping the talking portion for my vlog (Ooo, look at that rhyming). I want to concentrate more on connecting with the audience with my Youtube channel. I want to engage, I want to speak to them, and I want to make them laugh. Below you can find the pivotal steps I have gone through thus far in getting to this very Oscar-worthy realization.
An exclusive look behind-the-scenes styling Aria Jay
Hey guys! The Stylewright is back and better than evahhh! After NYFW, I thought things would slow down a bit, but boy was I wrong. Meetings, parties, events, and styling sessions inundated my weekly calendar. In this post, I will highlight two events: 1) The Daniel Wellington Black Classic Watch Campaign and 2) Being a Stylist for singer-songwriter Aria Jay.
Daniel Wellington Black Classic Campaign
I had a great kickoff to fun-filled events by being part of the Daniel Wellington #BlackClassic campaign. Not only did they send me their newest watch, they also invited me to a photoshoot where only 8 other influencers were selected. The shoot was at the super cute Daniel Wellington Pop-Up shop in Soho. Everything was so professional: the photographer, the setup, and the rest of the DW team. At the end, they offered me “bubbles” (which I found out meant champagne in Swedish). And then the next evening, I met some amazing bloggers at their Classic Black Launch Party, and was gifted with yet another watch! Their new NATO strap is super cool and stylish- I don’t have to worry about the leather stretching out or breaking, so it is a great option.

In this post, I will be talking about the rest of my NYFW Fall 2016. To shop some of each designer’s pieces and outfits, refer to the end of the post to see similar and shop-able styles.
This NYFW season has blown me away with the designs offered on the runway. The next impressive show was none other than the incredible Tadashi Shoji. I was so excited when I got to Skylight that I had to create a snapchat intro to remember this moment:
And boy, was I right in the level of excitement. The two big screens on the walls opened with some crazy, trippy video of an Asian-styled video of animals linking appendages to one another with their snouts or tails. Here is the example of the elephant:
I remember thinking to myself, “What the hell?” But then I was like, it’s Fashion Week, whatever. Sometimes designers like to mess with the human mind and question their taste in fashion. So, this wasn’t so bad.
Then, the designs came flowing down the runway. This was by far the most beautiful set of designs I have seen this entire NYFW. Tadashi gets a 10 for design, 10 for elegance, and 10 for wearability. The pieces were absolutely stunning.

The Busiest Day of My Life!
Now, for the moment you’ve all been waiting for (oh, so anxiously, so sorry….been so busy) *drumroll please* …my recap of NYFW Day 1!
I wasn’t kidding about taking some mental notes to be prepared for NYFW, by the way. You can read about my NYFW tips HERE to save yourself next time (or to laugh at me, whatever suits your fancy). Unfortunately, on my first morning, I already had made my first mistake. I left late from my apartment, and because there was an insurmountable amount of traffic, I basically missed my 1st show. Lovely start to a NYFW right? Well, we all make mistakes here and there – I am vowing to myself to never make them again!
Nonetheless, I missed the wonderful show of Nicholas K, but I was able to obtain these breathtaking photos of his work.

This guy is definitely a bold one – mixing his grunge-like style with lightweight fabrics and asymmetrical trims. The colors of his SS ‘17 collection were natural and earth-toned, yet there was a sort of metallic shimmer to the fabrics. It seemed as though he was trying to challenge every concept with its contrast and he had managed to brilliantly harmonize the opposing sides. (Shop Nicholas K below).
Next on the agenda was the wonderful Noon by Noor. This collection was the polar opposite of Nicholas K’s. Lots of blushes, creams, whites, and the occasional blacks glided down the runway. There was a feeling of serenity as I observed each beautiful piece. Some of them looked so lightweight, sheer, lace-y, and comfortable that I would have mistaken some pieces for extremely luxurious pajama sets. Kudos to Noon by Noor. (Shop Noon by Noor below)
